Privacy Policy — TypeSmart AI
This Privacy Policy applies to the TypeSmart AI app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, created by Abhishek Garg (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a freemium service. This service is intended for use "AS IS."
By downloading or using the Application, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information Collection and Use
When you download and use the Application, we may collect limited information, including:
- Device and app usage data (e.g., features used, action types, session timing)
- Crash and error reports
- Device type and operating system version
- Anonymous analytics identifiers used by Firebase
We do not require you to create an account for basic use. If you contact us for support, we may collect information you voluntarily provide (such as your email address and message content).
2. Text Data & Accessibility Service
TypeSmart AI is a writing assistant that works across other apps on your Android device. To do this, the Application uses:
- Android Accessibility Service — to detect when you focus text fields or highlight text
- Display over other apps (overlay) permission — to show the TypeSmart toolbar above other apps
How text is handled
- While Accessibility is enabled, TypeSmart may show its icon when you focus a text field in other apps.
- TypeSmart also detects text selections you make in other apps.
- Text is sent for processing only when you tap the icon and choose an action (grammar fix, rewrite, tone, translate, shorten, or expand).
- If you have highlighted text, only that selection is processed. If you tap the icon without a highlight, all text in the active field may be processed.
- Processing goes through our secure cloud proxy to Anthropic.
- We do not sell your text or use it for advertising.
- We do not retain text on our own servers after processing.
Local storage on your device
- AI responses may be cached locally on your device for up to 24 hours to improve speed and reduce repeat processing.
- Selected text may be kept temporarily in memory while the toolbar is open so you can preview and accept a result.
Clipboard
In some apps, when you tap Accept, TypeSmart may temporarily use the system clipboard to insert the processed text into the field you selected.
Pause control
You can pause TypeSmart from in-app Settings. When paused, the app stops detecting text fields and selections without requiring you to disable Accessibility in system settings.
3. Third-Party Services
The Application uses third-party services that process data under their own privacy policies:
- Google Play Services — app distribution and subscription management
- Google Analytics for Firebase — anonymised usage analytics and crash reporting
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash and error reporting
- Anthropic API — AI text processing (rewrite, tone, grammar, translation)
We share aggregated, non-content usage data with analytics services (for example, which features are used and how often, permission status, and text-length ranges). We do not send the content of your selected text to analytics services.
Anthropic receives the text you submit for the specific action you request. Handling of that data is governed by Anthropic’s policies.
We may disclose information only:
- As required by law or valid legal process
- When necessary to protect rights, safety, or security
- With service providers acting on our behalf under confidentiality obligations consistent with this policy
4. Data Retention
- Selected text: Not retained on our servers. May exist temporarily in device memory while in use.
- AI results: May be cached on your device for up to 24 hours.
- Analytics and crash data: Retained according to Firebase/Google retention settings, generally in aggregated or diagnostic form.
- Support communications: Retained only as long as needed to respond and resolve your request.
To request deletion of personal data you provided to us directly (such as support emails), contact us using the details in Section 9.
5. Your Choice and Controls
You can limit or stop data processing by:
- Uninstalling the Application
- Disabling Accessibility for TypeSmart AI in Android Settings
- Revoking overlay permission (“Display over other apps”) in Android Settings
- Using Pause TypeSmart in the app Settings
- Adjusting ad/analytics-related device settings where applicable (e.g., Android advertising ID settings)
Disabling Accessibility or overlay permission will prevent core writing-assistant functionality.
6. Children's Privacy
The Application is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us, and we will take steps to delete it.
7. Security
We use HTTPS/TLS for network communication with third-party APIs. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information from unauthorised access, disclosure, or misuse.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be posted at the same policy URL. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
